Last year, I went on a Russian vacation.
My friend told me I should try the caviar, but that water was way too cold.
The news today is that there is no news. This is important because of the double whammy we got last week. There is an unresolved issue that directly affects readers, and it needs to be addressed soon. Barnes and Noble is going to start removing paperback books that are priced under $14.99 from their systems. This leaves questions. Is it only for those books published directly through Barnes and Noble Press, or are D2D books going to be involved? If so, are authors going to have to raise the prices of all their paperbacks, or are we going to be able to stay compliant with BN only? And what about the price matching rule between retailers? Sure, that’s usually more of an ebook thing, but print-on-demand is often treated this way as well. All this will directly affect you, the reader, starting next month. I think I know what’s going to happen, but it would be nice to tell you for sure. Odds are that an e-mail will drop quietly into our inboxes tomorrow or Tuesday. Meanwhile, hold your breath. Just kidding, don’t do that. Life is too short.
Alrighty, let’s talk about my sale.
Summer is on its way, and my power bill is going to sky rocket. In hopes of being able to run my AC, I decided throw a sale over at the Smashwords Store. Four titles, perfect for your kids’ summer reading, have been discounted to just 99 cents between now and May 31st. In a stroke of marketing genius, I decided to call it my 2Cool4School Sale. (Can you tell I was in middle school in the 80s?) So I’m throwing the graphic and link below. Choose your book and select Smashwords to get the discount. Thanks in advance. Pat yourself on the back. You’re so smart for not letting your children turn into dullards over the summer.
On the writing front, we are securely on page 32 of the current jokes for kids project. It’s all downhill from here. It’ll be a few more weeks before I can resume drafting Squash Light in earnest, but it has already taken some surprising turns. Such is the way of a “plantser.”
Until Next Time, God Bless!
