I wanted to tell my friend a limbo joke.
She didn’t want me to stoop so low.
I told her that’s neither here nor there to me.
You see, when kids think they know a joke, you take it one step further. That’s how you school them.
In the news today, TikTok made good on their promise to release a best seller list related to BookTok. So far, it has been done in Germany and the UK. There were no surprises. The question is, what will the first BookTok list look like in the US, the largest English speaking market in the world? There is a lot more data to curate state side, and probably a few political snares to watch out for as well. So, is this big news? Probably not. It will, as it would seem, be a direct influence on readers, though. To me, it’s good to see long game activities coming from otherwise flighty social media companies. (ALLi’s latest news podcast was the main source for this one.)
Commercial time:
Two weeks left to get your kids some deep discounted summer reading. I’ve got five ebooks marked down in my Smashwords Store until May 31st, otherwise known as “Tag-You’re-It Day.” Here comes the link with a nifty promo pick. 👇👇👇
On the writing front, we are at the bottom of page 37 of our current Jokes for kids project, probably one joke away from page 38. Squash Light is coming along rather swimmingly. Just drafted chapter 5, and we are currently clocking in at a little over thirty-six hundred words. Also, I’ve got Google Notebook LM generating an ongoing book club podcast as things progress. You can find it here or over on Spotify (MG Fantasy Adventure Podcast). It’s totally free, of course, but your thoughts would be thoroughly appreciated in the comments. I want as much input and feedback as possible. The AI stuff is fun and interesting, but nothing beats discussions with real live people.
Until Next Time, God Bless!
