The biggest change in our lives is just around the corner, brothers and sisters. That’s right. Daylight Savings Time may or may not be a thing anymore. There are bills in the American legislature that will either stop it altogether or lock it in permanently without going back and forth every year. I’m for the former. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Either one would be better than what we’re doing right now, though. Now, there are some states, like Arizona, who might be in a proverbial pickle, but we shall soon see. So this March may usher in a new golden age or maybe just another apocalypse. Who knows?
In personal news, my middle child syndrome, Harper, just celebrated her 18th birthday. Congratulations. I’m proud of the young lady you’ve become. Now there’s only one preteen in the Coley household.
Let’s talk about audiobooks. Here’s a promo pic I just posted on social media.
AI Narrated audiobooks can be controversial. I get it. Let me just say this. I do have several titles that have an excellent human narrator, and I’m quite proud of them. However, there is no way that I can currently produce audiobooks for all my titles in that way, thus the AI route. This does not mean that I will not use human narrators in the future, which is my preference. But the end products are quite good, and they allow me to keep the audiobooks at a low price (same as the ebook).
Now, concerning these two stories in particular. While they are spooky in nature, they are perfectly safe for your preteens and young teens to enjoy, even the haunted house one. They would get a PG rating if they were movies by my estimation. Also, and this is very important to me, they are without political agenda. I simply want to write good stories for kids to enjoy that entertains them and perhaps makes them think about the wonderful world in which we live. Okay, there’s a sale coming up next month. Smashwords is having its annual “Read an Ebook Week.” All my titles will be 50% off. This is one of those exclusive sales that takes the discount at time of purchase, so it’s only available from the Smashwords Store. However, you can easily download any of your purchases to whatever ereader or reading app you prefer. Here are a couple of promo pics.

On the writing front, I’m getting a little excited about my next story. I really want to start writing it! While the setting, characters, background, and even the overall aesthetics are coming to life in my brain, I haven’t quite come up with a compelling plot line or theme. There are several good dystopian standards to play with, but it’s not going to be easy to keep things in a middle grade reader format. I just don’t want to turn this idea into a space opera. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the story wouldn’t be as special that way.
Until Next Time, God Bless

I'm also in the Smashwords Book Sale. If other Substack writers are in it, we could do joint promotion?
I was offered a chance to make audiobooks of my books via Apple. I generally don't like AI but I'm considering it. I suppose I could always substitute more professionally produced human ones later.
