When I went outside to watch the meteor shower, I was totally starstruck.
TikTok is in the news again. Just caught wind of this yesterday, so I’m not sure of the logistics yet, but BookTok Charts will soon be a new feature for influencers and readers alike. Readers will be able to see how their current books or their TBR list is fairing directly on the platform. From what I understand, the information giant, Neilson, will be involved. This probably means there is a significant investment in keeping these charts around, and that it’s not just some fun little experiment or pet project. Putting on my armchair quarterback hat, I think this has a lot more of the hallmarks of success compared to the company’s recent failed foray into the publishing business. They are learning and staying in their lane. That’s good to see.
Week 1 is in the books for MoonDom FiVe. Of course, I’ve been all over social media posting the cover for everyone to ignore. I’ll be throwing a few ads out soon as well. New books basically get a month or so to start up a successful trajectory, so it’ll still be more visible than my backlist for a while to come. I produced tons (probably too many) of podcast discussions and short explainer videos about it. Do I expect people to eat all that up? No. But I do want it out there so parents can make informed decisions about the book for their kids. It’s probably the best book I’ve ever written. Anyway, here’s the master link. 👇👇👇
On the writing front, we are getting close to the bottom of page 29 in my latest jokes for kids project. This is the point where I start getting excited about editing (I know, total nerd.). It’s still on track for an end of the year release. For Squash Light, my next WIP, I’m researching folklore about pumpkins. Some of it fits with the story that I wish to tell, while the rest may be all too recognizable. At first, I wanted it to be humorous horror, but now it’s starting to feel more like a quirky devine tragedy. I do have the three main parts of the narrative sketched out, but plot lines keep evolving in my head. We shall soon see, I suppose.
Until Next Time, God Bless!
