Going back to school’s got me feeling a little down. Over Christmas Break, I listened to the radio every single day, and I really miss it. It’s okay right now, though. It only comes in waves.
Elon Musk is going to make X.com’s algorithm open source soon, like early this year. What does that mean to you and me? I don’t know exactly, but here’s the pattern that I can foresee. Many groups of people, nerds really, are going to study it and pick it apart. One of those groups of nerds cater to authors. They may be able to tell us all kinds of things to market our books on the platform. In other words, the right books may have a better chance of getting in front of the right eyes at the right time. Also, some extrapolations may be made about other platforms as well, like Amazon and Meta, maybe even TikTok. At the very least, ads could become far more effective.
Now, we’re not even talking about AI here. Information industries are in the middle of a huge shift as far as that goes to the point where a lot of algorithms may not matter anymore. We are in a time of flux, but the possibilities are endless. Basically, I just muddied the waters for you. You’re welcome. What can I say? It’s what I do.
On the writing front. My latest book is available for preorder. In fact, I started a cover reveal sequence in my Instagram posts. There will be a great new link, complete with a low sale price in next week’s newsletter. The book will go live in March. Until then, I’ll be getting the audiobook ready. Also, I’m going to need some ARC readers soon!
Meanwhile, we’re about two thirds down page 23 of the upcoming jokes for kids book. Things did slow down a little this past week because of some family emergencies, but everything and everyone is okay now.
Sales Pitch Time - On this Substack, I have 3 audiobooks and ebooks available to paid subscribers. Currently working on the fourth. Anyway, THE FISH CREEK FORUM VOLUME 1 is Free for everyone, paid or not. Please enjoy it with your kids. The others are free if it’s your first taste (kind of like a drug dealer). You can pay $6 a month or $60 a year, and eventually get access to all my titles for middle grade readers. I’m working on it as fast as I can. If you’re a free subscriber, I’m so happy you’re here. No pressure, folks. Just trying to offer you an alternative.
Tell you what, PUMPKINS, let’s talk about my next project. I’m really wanting to get started on a Halloween story for kids. It’s going to be CREEPY and HUMOROUS. And it’s going to have a TERRIBLE ENDING. As the Joker likes to say, “Why so serious?”
Until Next Time, God Bless!
