I couldn’t find one of my socks.
Grandma told me it was in the dryer.
I looked everywhere, but only found one and not the other.
Finally, my Grandma went into the laundry room and came right back out with the missing sock in her hand.
“Where was it?” I asked in amazement.
“It fell behind the box of washing powders. I had to move it out of the way.”
Well, leave it to Grandma to turn the tide.
The news this week isn’t so much FOR you as it is ABOUT you. I believe it was at a conference, but regardless, Spotify had some juicy gossip about you. Their audiobook listening time went up 60% in the past few months. That is a jaw dropping number, even to me. They said it was largely due to their Page Match feature. You see, audiobook reading (yes, it’s reading) has been on the rise in recent years, but those numbers were mostly in the single to low double digits. Now that people are syncing up their paperbacks to their audiobooks, those numbers grew geometrically. So yeah, you’re a bunch of readin’ fools! (Got this info from ALLI’s news podcast.)
I was going to use this space to announce that my website is up and running. That’s not happening. It’s doing one, but not the other. I’m not sure which is which. It’s frustrating for sure, but that’s what happens when you let an old GenX-er play around with technology. I’ll update you when it’s a reality. In other news, my two cats just now got into a fight while climbing onto my lap. As one would imagine, I am not pleased.
On the writing front, we are about to cross over onto page 39, which puts us at 13,605 words of hilarity. I don’t write as many jokes in the summer because I don’t have my audience of test subjects, but everything is still on track for an end of the year release. Meanwhile, the Squash Light is rolling right along. Just drafted chapter 8 this week, and we’re at 6,218 words. Not bad. If you want to know more about it, or even take part in shaping the story, I put out a chapter by chapter book club episode on the MG Fantasy Adventure Podcast here on this Substack as well as on Spotify. By all means, please check it out. Also, not sure if you noticed, but I uploaded another book from my backlist onto the Library Section too. The Library is for paid subscribers, but anyone can read the first chapters for free. Please do!
Until Next Time, God Bless!
