Math class is tough.
Sometimes you add.
Sometimes you subtract.
And you have to know the difference.
The biggest news in the author world that would affect readers at the moment is probably Amazon’s services are in, and have been in Beta. Audiobook conversion has been going on at a small scale for quite some time. Spanish and German translations have been simmering in the background as well. They just announced another language to add to the suite. Now, the way Amazon does Beta is through invitation, so you may not have noticed it yet. The point is that all of this is growing more robust at a faster and faster rate. Soon, though I could not say when, there is likely to be a whole new flood of books available from countries all over the world. Many language barriers are going to fall away because these translation services are going, or will soon be going both ways. It’s an interesting time to be alive.
Of course, most of the information above is speculative in nature, so here’s some news that will definitely affect you in three days. It’s time for the annual Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale. Thousands of authors are participating, including me. All my ebooks will be 50% off. A few will be completely free. Here’s the promo pic. 👇👇👇
On the writing front, we are at the bottom of page 39 and sitting on 13,890 words in the current jokes for kids project. Things are slower now, but that is as would be expected, and we’re still on track for an end of the year release. Chapter 13 of Squash Light has been drafted. It’s a departure and a necessary break in the story’s plot, but you will never look at the nursery rhyme about “Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater” in quite the same way. We are now at 10,780 words.
Happy 250th Birthday to the United States of America. 🇺🇸
Until Next Time, God Bless!
