Greetings from the pollen stained streets of Georgia. I’m enjoying a rainy Sunday morning, which is a blessing. The more wet yellow paste on the ground, the less dry yellow dust in my nostrils. I hope you all can breathe a little easier today no matter where you are.
Writing news - The prologue and first chapter of WHITE are all but complete. Also, for some reason I began writing a completely different book tentatively titled SOUL PUNK. The plan for now is to continue writing the former and pay attention to the latter when the need arises, kind of like going to the bathroom.
Other news - My podcast is now available on Spotify. Just look up MG FANTASY ADVENTURES in the search bar and click on the podcast option. My show isn’t too far down the list. You’ll know you’re there when you see the dragon speaking into a microphone. There are four short episodes ready to download. These are most of a FREE AUDIOBOOK that I am slowly but surely recording for all my wonderful subscribers. The plan is for the podcast to continue with the first chapters of all my Middle Grade books, and then to discuss other Middle Grade Fiction.
Writing tip - You don’t have to save the cat. Save the Cat is the title of a popular book for playwrights that was co-opted for authors because of its great story-telling advice. There was another edition printed specifically for fiction authors too. You can find it pretty much anywhere if you’re interested. But like I said, you don’t have to save the cat in your story to make your character more empathetic. You could, for example, warn the cat to stay away. That’s what I did in my current WIP. The tone is still set, and the reader gets insight into the main character’s heart. Of course, this is a metaphorical cat for most authors. In my case, though, it was a calico.
Until Next Time,
God Bless
