Happy Sunday!
Here’s the plan. I’m going to show you a cool pic, then we’re going to talk about it.
Pay no attention to the girl screaming in the corner. She’s a banshee. It’s what she does. Let’s shift our focus to the boy riding a paper airplane in the sky. Pretty cool, I know. This image was inspired by the text in its left hand side. It’s one hundred percent true too. There really was a boy who flew his paper airplane one hundred feet at the T or C airport. The AI pic generated in my Canva account due to the description in my head is quite different, though. That, my friends, is what being a middle grade fantasy author is all about. In other words, we see things in a novel way, organize our thoughts around the vision, and communicate them to readers as best we can. Anyone can do it, but most don’t. That’s okay. Life happens. I’m not trying to encourage you to become a fantasy writer for kids. In fact, don’t. The less competition the better. (Just kidding. There’s plenty of room for everyone.) I am suggesting, however, that thinking this way helps you to enjoy your life more, so maybe give it a try.

Okay, let’s talk about story structure. I’ve experimented with different kinds. The Western Weird, for example, was written in a four part structure usually found in Japanese folk tales and horror stories. White is written in the classic seven part plan that most fantasy books are written in today. It does have one little twist. It’s written from the point of view of both the protagonist and the antagonist. Some of my stories have their own unique structure, like Bloody Bones, which has a storyline based of the stages of grief. Why tell you all this? I don’t know. I guess I just really want you to know that my work is well thought out and that I try to keep high quality standards for your kids to enjoy. I’m thinking about exploring chiastic structure on my next work in progress. We’ll see how it goes.

On the writing front, REDNECK LINGO 3 is in the works. All the memes are ready to go and I’ve dusted off the hillbilly book cover. There are a lot of graphics, so formatting will take a while. It will not be published quite as wide as my fiction, but should be available on Amazon and Gumroad like its ancestors.
Okay, folks. That’s about it. Like winter, Christmas is coming!
Until Next Time, God Bless!
